This project has been on the backburner for a long time, mainly due to a lack of available parts. I suppose I could always just go out and buy new parts for it, but finding / scouring for parts was actually part of the fun. :)

Originally I wanted to assemble a kit suitable for home practice, but the more I think about it, the more I started thinking: "Might as well go big and make a giant practice kit, do something that haven't been done before".

So there was the plan. To make a double bass practice kit with silent practice heads.

Regular drumheads on one side, mesh head on another, change from practice to show in minutes, without any re-tuning required.

I also wanted to experiment with shallow shells, so everything is cut down in half except for the snare and floor tom. I need thundering floor toms.   :)

Half way..
Since last time I got the shells done I had been waiting for some extra bassdrum parts to show up.

I waited and waited and waited until in late March, a whole drumset kinda fell into my lap.

The lugs don't match, but it helps give off a "frankin-drum" feel. ARRRRG.

And then I decided since I couldn't get anymore of those stainless steel wrap nor any chrome plastic wrap for the bassdrums, I would recover everything in a new finish.

Might as well make it look better and get ride of the old wrap that littered with previous drilled holes...

Pictures coming soon!

In the beginning...
I first got my hands on some toms late last year, but since then have been strapped for parts to finish the set.

The drums that I got had a stainless steel wrap covering and I planned to reuse the wraps initially. However once I started cutting the shells I realized it's next to impossible to undo any bends and cuts down to stainless steel wraps - at least not with house hold tools.

I was only able to finish 3 toms and the floor tom with the stainless steel wrap .
